The TCU women's rifle team will host the NCAA Rifle Championships this weekend, as seven other teams from across the country (Alaska-Fairbanks, West Virginia, Kentucky, Army, Navy, Murray State and Nebraska) travel to Fort Worth to determine the best guns in the nation.

The rifle competition consists of two parts: the air rifle shooting and the smallbore. It takes place after an outstanding season by the Horned Frogs, where they only lost one head-to-head event, and earned first in the two major tournaments they entered.

TCU is hosting the event for the second year in a row, after claiming the No. 5 spot in the nation last season.

Senior Erin Lorenzen will lead the rifle team and has been awarded the team's Most Valuable Player Award for three straight years. The other four athletes slated to participate for the Frogs this weekend are senior Simone Riford, and freshmen Sarah Beard, Caitlin Morrissey and Sara Scherer.
