Barack Obama is Muslim. Trust me. I should know. Sound familiar? Similar campaigns were run during the presidential campaign in an attempt to "otherize" the current president by relating him to extremist members of Islam. If this sounds ludicrous, maybe it won't if one considers the percentage of Americans who still believe this.

Sadly, the 3 percent increase is a telling result of the failure of abstinence-only education. Teenagers need to be educated about the realities of sex and contraception, but instead they have been throwing chastity parties and given candy-coated content about how true love waits.

The Black Student Association should be commended for taking action to increase attendance at its meetings. Although BSA has more than 100 members, some events have a turnout in the single digits. This sort of issue may be attributed to a lack of motivation on the part of the members.

The recent branding incident involving Kappa Sigma members highlights an important issue beyond the obvious "Why would anybody do that?" question. The incident has also led to discussion about whether the university has, or should have, the right to investigate situations like this that occur off campus among its students.

The selling of used instructor's textbooks for students highlights a flaw in the college textbook market. The reselling of instructor's textbooks creates issues not only for college students, but also for the original book publisher. Professors who sell their instructor's books to wholesale companies should reconsider their actions.
