Before the beginning of this past football season I wrote an article that began by saying TCU was not getting any recognition as a BCS buster. While they might not have crashed the BCS party, it was still an exciting season, capping it all off with a 17-16 win against then-No. (0) comments

Senior kick-off specialist Drew Combs was honored with the 2008 College Football Rudy Award at the American Football Coaches Association Convention on Monday at the Opryland Hotel in Nashville, Tenn. Combs was awarded a trophy and a $5,000 scholarship by Rudy Ruettiger, whom the award is named for. (0) comments

After Friday's meet against the University of Utah, head coach Richard Sybesma said the H20 Frogs proved they will be a team to be reckoned with if they can consistently rise up to the occasion. The men's and women's teams faced the Utes on Friday night in the University Recreation Center. (0) comments

The Horned Frogs withstood the UNLV Lady Rebels' valiant effort at a comeback to win Saturday's game in Las Vegas 66-61. TCU (10-5, 2-0 Mountain West Conference) led from the start as the team found open shots on most of their early possessions. UNLV (7-8, 0-2 MWC) allowed TCU to shoot 42. (0) comments

For some, the end of fall sport (notice I said "sport") signals the beginning of a lull in their level of passion for college athletics. Sure, there were other sports in action during the fall semester, like volleyball, swimming and diving, soccer, tennis and golf, but we all know football reigns supreme in Texas, and that's no different here at our university. BYU defeats Lady Horned Frogs 62-46

The Lady Horned Frog basketball team lost its claim to the top spot in the Mountain West on Tuesday with a 62-46 loss to the BYU Cougars. Turnovers and poor field goal shooting caused the loss. The Lady Frogs shot 22.4 percent from the field in the game and 18. (0) comments

Demand for TCU athletics memorabilia raises with success

Whether it's a collector, graduate, current student or just a fan, people want their piece of TCU. The success of TCU athletics in recent years has resulted in TCU paraphernalia becoming higher in demand in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and a popular choice among college sports fans outside of Cowtown. It all boils down to the conference championships, the head coach for the swimming and diving teams said. The men's team finished its regular season Friday with a loss to SMU, the No. 24-ranked team in the College Swim Coaches Association of America Poll, and the women finished regular season conference play with a win against the University of New Mexico. The Men's Swimming and Diving team came up short against SMU Friday, but several individuals made a splash against the Mustangs. The cross-town rivals beat the Frogs 143-101, but head coach Richard Sybesma said he is happy with how his team performed against the No. (0) comments

Rifle team channels focus into success

It could be considered the least appreciated, understood or known team on campus, but the rifle team is shooting with result and is the most focused group of athletes the university has to offer. When every shot could be the deciding factor in a shooter's score, ice cold veins and a stable mind are key. (0) comments

Men's team to face ranked opposition

The TCU men's swimming and diving team has won its past two meets, but a nationally ranked rival stands in its path to keep the streak alive. TCU takes on the SMU Mustangs today, a team ranked 24th in the College Swim Coaches Association of America Poll, in its last men's home meet of the season. (0) comments

In its last regular season meet, the H2O Frogs women's swim and dive team took a stroke forward in the Mountain West Conference as seniors and freshmen shined. TCU beat the University of New Mexico Lobos 124.5-116.5 to close out the team's regular conference season. (0) comments

The Mountain West Conference record for being named diver of the week the most times now belongs to a TCU diver. R.J. Hesselberg broke the previous single season record of six last week when he was named MWC Men's Diver of the Week for the seventh time. "I'm a lot more focused this season," said Hesselberg, a junior communication studies major. (0) comments

Administrator: Title IX rule not to blame

Six years ago, TCU saw the last of the men's soccer team. Now, several students plan to put forth the effort to have a team reinstated. In 2000, the Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium opened, and two competitive soccer teams were ready to play. Only one continues to play on the TCU soccer field today. (3) comments

Senior point guard Adrianne Ross attempts a layup against Utah on Saturday, but it was not enough for the Lady Frogs who lost 60-50 falling to 3-2 in Moutain West Conference play. The loss dropped the Frogs to third in the Mountain West Conference and 10-9 overall.

The men's basketball team will hit the road this weekend in search of a victory against the Utah Utes in Salt Lake City. With three consecutive conference wins under their belts, the team is confident it can come out on top Saturday. "We have a lot of work to get prepared for this weekend, but I think our team is good enough to get this win," senior guard Brent Hackett said. (0) comments
