Last year's winter season seemed to last forever. I remember being so eager for flowers to start blooming again and flip-flops and Nike shorts to make their 2008 spring debut. It's 11:30 p.m. Tuesday and I've been watching the election results from my hometown, because I came home to vote. I'm on Facebook, just like 210 of my closest online friends. In the past five minutes, there have been about 100 "Good-bye America" status changes, several threats from peers of moving to Europe, Canada or Australia, and many thoughts on how the country will move forward as "socialist America. As a retail worker at an area mall, I had an up-close and personal view of Black Friday last year and am still wondering: what in the world happened to good will toward men, 'tis the season to be jolly and all that other stuff the holidays are supposed to be about? Was Wal-Mart's Black Friday sale really worth trampling a New York man to death? Were people so consumed with greed that they didn't notice the pregnant woman, who later had a miscarriage, on the floor? It doesn't make sense to me. (0) comments
