The volleyball team beat Wyoming on Thursday night, bouncing back from consecutive losses against BYU and Utah. The team swept Wyoming (25-16, 25-17, 25-18) bringing its record to 7-6 in the Mountain West Conference and 18-8 overall. Junior middle blocker Kourtney Edwards said she thought everyone played hard as a team. (0) comments

Before the beginning of this past football season I wrote an article that began by saying TCU was not getting any recognition as a BCS buster. While they might not have crashed the BCS party, it was still an exciting season, capping it all off with a 17-16 win against then-No. (0) comments

Senior kick-off receives Rudy Award

Senior kick-off specialist Drew Combs was honored with the 2008 College Football Rudy Award at the American Football Coaches Association Convention on Monday at the Opryland Hotel in Nashville, Tenn. Combs was awarded a trophy and a $5,000 scholarship by Rudy Ruettiger, whom the award is named for. (0) comments

After Friday's meet against the University of Utah, head coach Richard Sybesma said the H20 Frogs proved they will be a team to be reckoned with if they can consistently rise up to the occasion. The men's and women's teams faced the Utes on Friday night in the University Recreation Center. (0) comments

The Horned Frogs withstood the UNLV Lady Rebels' valiant effort at a comeback to win Saturday's game in Las Vegas 66-61. TCU (10-5, 2-0 Mountain West Conference) led from the start as the team found open shots on most of their early possessions. UNLV (7-8, 0-2 MWC) allowed TCU to shoot 42. (0) comments

For some, the end of fall sport (notice I said "sport") signals the beginning of a lull in their level of passion for college athletics. Sure, there were other sports in action during the fall semester, like volleyball, swimming and diving, soccer, tennis and golf, but we all know football reigns supreme in Texas, and that's no different here at our university. BYU defeats Lady Horned Frogs 62-46

The Lady Horned Frog basketball team lost its claim to the top spot in the Mountain West on Tuesday with a 62-46 loss to the BYU Cougars. Turnovers and poor field goal shooting caused the loss. The Lady Frogs shot 22.4 percent from the field in the game and 18. (0) comments

Lady Frogs top Rams with overall effort

"Teams that want to play in March have to have good Februaries." That was head coach Jeff Mittie's message to his team as they prepared to start the second half of conference play with a home game against Colorado State University on Saturday. If the Lady Frogs' 71-59 win over the Rams was any indication, the team is listening so far. (0) comments

Patterson: History out the window as Frogs ready to face Utes

Three days after the Horned Frogs remained undefeated in Mountain West Conference play with a victory against the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, head football coach Gary Patterson told reporters at his weekly news conference he was looking forward to Thursday night's game against the University of Utah. Quarterbacks TCU: Sophomore Andy Dalton continues to shine since returning from injury and is making a run at all-conference quarterback recognition. In his last three games, he has completed 44 of his 70 pass attempts, thrown for 655 yards and has nine touchdown passes compared to zero interceptions. (0) comments

Top 12 teams face off with high stakes

Before the season started, the Utah Utes expected to have their conference and Bowl Championship Series dreams tested in a late-season matchup. TCU, however, was not considered the primary threat to dash their hopes. No. 12 TCU (9-1,6-0 MWC) goes into Thursday night's game against undefeated University of Utah, No. (1) comment

This week is historic. Not only have we elected the first black president, but for the first time in history, two top-12 teams will meet on the turf at Rice-Eccels Stadium. Let's hope the outcome will be as satisfying as the one Tuesday. There have been a lot of big games played at Rice-Eccles. (0) comments

Usually, I try to defend the Bowl Championship Series ratings because it is the only system we have right now, and there is nothing we can do about it until everyone can agree on something better. But having Utah at No. 8 is ridiculous. Look at the schedule for the Utes and you will find no ranked teams, a couple of narrow wins over Michigan and New Mexico, both terrible teams, and an overall boring schedule. (25) comments

HEARTBREAKER

Mistakes plague Frogs in Utah

HEARTBREAKER

With TCU hanging onto a 10-6 lead late in the fourth quarter, all Utah's defense wanted to do was give its offense a chance. Two empty drives and a game-ending interception later, Utah's defense had done all it could to keep its BCS hopes alive. "This whole game was rough, man," said Utah (10-0, 7-0 MWC) safety Robert Johnson. (5) comments

Lady Frogs survive scare in exhibition game

TCU beats Oklahoma City University 56-55

The Lady Frogs pulled off a 56-55 come-from-behind win over the Oklahoma City University Stars in the closing seconds of the team's final tune-up before the start of the regular season. "We're going to have to win some 65-58, 59 games," head coach Jeff Mittie said. (0) comments

It took a whole week and only one win for the Dallas defense to get overconfident. Impressive. Now there was more going wrong than a complete lack of will to tackle in this game - see Brad Johnson still on the field after his second series - but how can this team expect to have any sort of stability while its defense continues this Jekyll and Hyde impersonation.
