Cheers to the university for adding new majors and minors and continuing to give students more choices. In the immortal words of "Schoolhouse Rock," "Knowledge is power!" Jeers to the new meal plan. The administration failed to listen to student concerns from the conception of the plan. (0) comments

Last spring, Chancellor Victor Boschini signed the American College & University Presidents Climate Commitment Act, and since then, the university has made some advancements toward fulfilling its commitment. The commitment calls for universities to reduce their global warming emissions and integrate sustainability into their curriculum to help create a thriving, ethical and civil society, according to the commitment's Web site. The university's decision to participate in the Yellow Ribbon program should be commended. Beginning in August, the program, a component of the new GI Bill, will allow private universities where the tuition is higher than the most expensive in-state public university to waive some or all of the remaining tuition. (0) comments

In these times of economic uncertainty, kudos to the university for continuing to rework curriculum and make students more marketable to employers. The College of Education has proved that its administrators are keeping an eye on trends in their field, anticipating changes and staying ahead of the curve. (0) comments

Student Government Association President Kelsie Johnson's decision to veto a bill that would remove the runoff system from the organization's elections should be commended. Last week, Johnson vetoed the legislation that would allow for a student to win the election with only a plurality of the vote, not a majority. (0) comments
