It's the 21st century, professors. But for some educators on campus who have banned the use of laptops in class, when it comes to note taking, it might as well be the 15th. At a university where students are constantly encouraged to think globally, and where millions of dollars have been devoted to modernizing infrastructure in an effort to keep students on the technological cutting edge, it's absurd to require students to limit the reach of their resources. The university's decision to participate in the Yellow Ribbon program should be commended. Beginning in August, the program, a component of the new GI Bill, will allow private universities where the tuition is higher than the most expensive in-state public university to waive some or all of the remaining tuition. Citing budget restraints, RealWorld, the first student-run nonprofit advertising agency in the nation, announced it would close its doors unless the university raises $100,000. RealWorld aids the advertising needs of nonprofit organizations in the community at a significantly discounted price. (0) comments

After the beloved social networking site adapted its terms of use earlier this month to say that the company has the right to use any posted material even if a user terminates his or her account, about 50,000 users joined a group called "People Against the new Terms of Service (TOS)" - with good reason.
