Often times, when I am on campus, I cannot help but wonder if some of the young women are making their way to class or to the club. But before I get myself in too deep and offend someone, I should say that I do not take for granted how far we have come in a society that for decades oppressed women. (21) comments

Baseball fun not limited to sports fans

The grass is turning green once again and flowers are starting to bloom. The sweet smell of freshly cut grass is back. We all know what time it is. Spring training is upon us and your favorite team is heading back to the diamond. But where will you be? Barbie is about to turn 50 years old. But not in West Virginia if Rep. Jeff Eldridge has his way. Eldridge introduced a bill to ban the sale of the iconic doll because it "promote[s] physical beauty to the detriment of girls' intellectual and emotional development," according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Rihanna incident calls attention to national problem

Chris Brown's brutal assault on Rihanna shocked fans and resulted in a stir of public opinion regarding his fate. The barbarity of the attack and Rihanna's subsequent return to her abuser has brought much needed attention to the fact that abusive relationships are a serious problem in America. (0) comments
