Religious teaching in public high schools should include the Koran

Texas Legislature House Bill 1287, which makes all Texas high schools offer an elective on "religious literature, including the Hebrew Scriptures (Old Testament) and New Testament, and its impact on history and literature," will become effective for the 2009-2010 school year. (3) comments

Cleansing detox program hard to swallow

Recently my friend introduced me to the "Master Cleanse" detox program designed by Stanley Burroughs. He created this detox that can last anywhere from three to 30 days, to rid your body of all toxins, and as a plus, help you lose weight. Sounds cool, right? That's what I thought too. (2) comments

When a well-liked person leaves his or her current position, whether it be a job, a city or this world, people tend to say the same thing: "It's not about the numbers or the dollars, but about the lives they touched." For Danny Morrison, the numbers are the lives. (0) comments

Going green not just for lefties

Ever since Al Gore's documentary "An Inconvenient Truth" came out in 2006, environmentalism has been a political issue. As well it should. The environment should be on the minds of politicians worldwide. But the wrong people are getting credit for the idea in the first place. (1) comment

Letter to the Editor: Driving laws save lives

Michael Lauck's point about increasing government regulation, while true, avoids the basic truth that we as members of society reap what we sow. If there weren't so many people proven to be talking or texting on a phone when they got into an accident, then we wouldn't need so many laws about what we may or may not do. (2) comments

Obama's address to students an honest message

A presidential address to American students about the importance of staying in school is not indoctrination. With 6.2 million high school dropouts (according to CNN) in 2007, we should be more concerned about having a society that keeps students in school so that they can realize their potential than we should be about the evil President Barack Obama turning poor, innocent children into liberal demons. Non-traditional sports at campus rec left idle

Squash. No, not the gourd. The sport akin to racquetball. Great, now we're on the same page. There are several sports under-utilized at the University Recreation Center on campus. Among them, we have rock climbing, billiards and the fun-loving, but tacitly skill-involved table tennis. (0) comments

Only those of you lucky students who commute to school from your dwellings will feel my pain. The pain of driving from northwest Fort Worth to TCU is an immense undertaking involving stress from other drivers, cops running radar guns to make up their monthly ticket allotment, and the guaranteed construction and/or accident reducing flow to a standstill on Interstate 30. U.S. is due for some apologizing

Lately, many politicians and pundits have said the United States should not apologize for any acts committed by the federal government. In fact, Mitt Romney's new book is titled "No Apology: The Case For American Greatness." These opinions stemmed from President Barack Obama's recent trip to the Middle East, where he tried to begin the process of reconciling the relationship between Muslims and the West by making a speech at the University of Cairo.
