The university's ROTC program has been ranked No. 12 in the nation by a Washington Monthly magazine report. The magazine evaluated a pool of 258 colleges in several categories and ranked ROTC programs "by percentage of students who serve in ROTC," according to its Web site. (2) comments

Two vehicles parked in the soccer stadium parking lot were broken into Monday, a TCU Police official said. TCU Police Lt. Ramiro Abad said personal items were taken from the cars sometime Monday afternoon. The owners reported the theft to the TCU Police when they came back to their cars that afternoon, Abad said. Distinguished author Joel Spring, the College of Education's Green Honors Chair, is visiting campus this week to hold a series of lectures and discussions on current issues including sustainability, globalization and politics. One student cannot wait for the knock on his dorm room in Brachman Hall today. That is because at about 7 p.m., Student Development Services and the Student Government Association will make "house calls" to freshman dorm rooms. Brent Folan, freshman business major, said he planned to suggest that a bowling alley be built where former campus restaurant Pond Street Grill used to stand in Worth Hills. (0) comments

Students and staff members are working together to bring the Meals on Wheels program to campus, expecting to establish an official student organization by this spring. University faculty and staff have had a Meals on Wheels program for some time, said Melissa Gruver, coordinator for Community Involvement and a member of AmeriCorps VISTA, a national service program to fight poverty. The College of Education's Green Honors Chair, a scholar on educational policy, told students, faculty and community members on Wednesday that the U.S. Constitution should be amended to give students and faculty academic freedom in the classroom. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas' utmost concern as a judge is to honor the oath he took to uphold the U.S. Constitution, he said during a lecture at Southern Methodist University on Wednesday night. A business professor is bringing recognition to the university through his involvement in a prestigious marketing academic journal, a Neeley official said. Robert P. A group of students is hoping to add belly dancing to the university's recreational activities for a fun workout and an interesting cultural experience. The draft for a new faculty tenure appeal policy, designed to resolve grievances in a quicker way, has reached its final stages and is expected to reach the board of trustees for approval later this year, a former Faculty Senate representative said. Stuart Youngblood, professor of management and former faculty senator who is working on the draft, said the Faculty Reappointment, Tenure and Promotion Appeal Policy will speed up and clarify the process of submitting grievances. Plans to bring back the Convenience Swipe at on-campus eatery 1873 were already in action before Dining Services learned about a petition to resuscitate the option, a Dining Services official said.
