Football player might get feet wet on baseball diamond

Frog head coach Gary Patterson knows exactly what kind of athlete he recruited in wide receiver Jeremy Kerley. Every time Kerley's name is mentioned by the media, Patterson goes on to say how he was a 25-foot long jumper in high school and could throw a baseball 95 miles per hour on top of his football talent. The Frogs secured the Iron Skillet for one more year, made it through the non-conference schedule unscathed and broke into the top 10 faster than any Frog team since 1959. The troubling thing is they haven't played up to their potential yet and head coach Gary Patterson is well aware of it. (0) comments

The women's soccer team faces a quick turn around game Saturday against Wyoming after beating Air Force in overtime Thursday. "We got the win today and in conference play; that is all that matters," head coach Dan Abdalla said. "We found a way to get the result against a Mountain West Conference opponent. (0) comments

Each week, members of student publications make their picks on the big NCAA football games. Each correct pick is awarded one point and a correct upset pick is worth two points. Coming into week six, News Now reporter Maddy Foxx and Skiff editor-in-chief David Hall lead the pack with 23 points. (0) comments

Head coach Gary Patterson had few complaints about his team's performance in his weekly press conference, but said he expects a tough road game against Air Force. Patterson said losing in the team's last visit to Colorado Springs would not be a major motivator for this week's game. (0) comments

After sitting out his freshman season, Edgar Crespo is ready to live up to the men's swimming team's motto for the season: "Don't hold back." Although Crespo competed in a handful of world championships, he has yet to compete in a meet for the H20 Frogs. Crespo, a sophomore sprinter, was ineligible to compete last season because of an NCAA rule violation involving a one-year grace period that follows high school graduation in which NCAA athletes are allowed to compete in international competitions. If the weather report is any indication, TCU might have a tough time throwing the ball against Air Force in a cold, wet game Saturday night. Fortunately for the Frogs, relying on the running game should be a safe bet. TCU has won its last 26 games when rushing for more yards than passing, and has won 33 straight when they rush for more than 167 yards. (0) comments

The women's soccer team will look to even its Mountain West Conference record against Air Force today after losing their first conference game to New Mexico 1-0. The Horned Frogs (7-6, 0-1) will play Air Force (2-9, 0-1) at home today. The Falcons enter today's match against TCU after a 3-1 loss to Wyoming last week. (0) comments

Senior middle blocker Kourtney Edwards, who received her third Mountain West Player of the Week honor Oct. 5., will look to lead the volleyball team once again Thursday night when the Horned Frogs take on Utah in Salt Lake City.
