Attacks on Sikhs show lack of American trust

The Sept. 11 attacks changed the United States in a series of cultural, social and political ways. While the war on terror rages on, to the chagrin of some and the disdain of others, possibly the most serious battle taking place is on U.S. soil. This war isn't fought with bombs and firearms, though. (4) comments

When Jonathan Bornstein scored the most amazing header of his life in the fifth minute of stoppage time during the USA/Costa Rica game Oct. 14, I jumped, screamed, yelled and celebrated idiotically, like I'm sure every other U.S. soccer fan did at that moment. (0) comments

Military exhibits blatant homophobic tendencies

The "don't ask, don't tell" policy was put into place in 1993 to discourage gay men and women from being open about their sexual orientation in the military. However, during the past couple of years the majority of people being discharged because of their sexual orientation were women. (0) comments

Inmates have a right to swine flu vaccinations

The gubernatorial race between Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchinson and Gov. Rick Perry reached disappointing new lows with some of the name calling that's been going on for the past few weeks. I haven't seen this kind of vicious attacking, name-sullying and general contempt between two candidates since . (1) comment

Finally social networking Web sites such as Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and MySpace have become useful for something other than posting meaningless thoughts and viewing funny babies. In order to garner support for his valiant cause against the corporate giant Hansen Beverage Company, Matt Nadeau, co-owner of Rock Art Brewery out of Vermont, gathered support from the Internet and various other sources.
