But for those who practice Dia de los Muertos, or the Day of the Dead on Nov. 1st and 2nd, it is one of celebration and remembrance. Miguel Leatham, an anthropology professor who studies Mexican religion and folklore, said that it was not until recently that Americans, mostly Southwesterners, started celebrating Dia de los Muertos.
